Sponsored by Qatargas – a sponsor of the tournament since its inauguration in 1998 - over 300 marshals and volunteers are charged with keeping the play moving, while ensuring that the galleries are free to enjoy the action without disturbing the players.
Last year, over 20,000 spectators visited Doha Golf Club and tournament officials and organisers believe the combination of the richest prize-fund in the event’s history, a star-studded field of PGA European Tour pros and a mix of celebrities from sport and entertainment will attract even more spectators to the 7,388-yard course.
“The marshals have a very important role to play when it comes to the staging of the event,” said Qatargas Public Relations Manager Abdulla Hajji. “The tournament is now a key element of the international promotion of Qatar and Qatargas is proud to be able to support the event by sponsoring this aspect of one of the region’s premier sporting occasions.”
Qatargas is one of many international brands and Qatari corporates who have thrown their considerable weight behind the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, Presented by Dolphin Energy. Held in association by Commercialbank, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Qatar Golf Association the event is being broadcast to hundreds of millions of global TV viewers and draws to a close on Sunday night (Jan 27).
