Doha, (Qatar): Spectators attending the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy, at Doha Golf Club this week will be on course to win a collection of exciting prizes courtesy of event sponsor Qatar Duty Free.
After signing up as the tournament’s “Preferred Retail Partner”, Qatar Duty Free has created a number of promotions to run alongside the $2.5 million European Tour event from January 27-31.
An exclusive exhibition area has been constructed within the popular public village, while partnerships with both Canon and Toblerone have given Qatar Duty Free the opportunity to showcase its award-winning operation and benefit spectators at the same time.
“Each day during the tournament we’ll be giving away a Canon EOS 1000D cameras to one lucky winner,” said Qatar Duty Free Vice President Keith Hunter. “In addition, we’ll have a grand prize draw offering three major prizes – our Ace prize is a QR50,000 shopping voucher, the Eagle prize is a QR25,000 shopping voucher, while the winner of the Birdie prize will take home a shopping voucher for QR10,000.
“We will also have Kraft Foods International with the world’s biggest chocolate bar, the 4.5kg Toblerone ,in our exhibition area and we’ll be giving fans a chance to win one of five of these bars every day for five days as well as a number of other exciting gifts.”
Fans looking to win one of the grand draw and daily prizes should visit the Qatar Duty Free exhibition area and complete a simple questionnaire before going into the grand prize draw. The three winners will be drawn by the 2010 champion just moments after he collects his trophy on the 18th green on Sunday (January 31), although only winners present at the time will be eligible for a prize.
“While we always try to have the best players in the world competing in the tournament, our sponsorship partners work hard to make sure spectators have just as much fun in the exhibition village as they do watching the action on the course,” said Hassan Al Nuami, President of the Qatar Golf Association (QGA).
“Entrance to the Pro-Am on Wednesday and to the tournament itself from Thursday to Sunday is completely free of charge to the public so we are delighted that Qatar Duty Free and its partners have arranged these excellent promotions for golf fans.”
Andy Steven, Group CEO of title sponsors Commercialbank, organisers of the event alongside the QGA and the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), said the tournament was shaping up to be the best since its inception in 1998.
“We’ve got a sensational line-up of players with several big names such as Retief Goosen and Kenny Perry making exclusive Middle East appearances in Doha,” he said. “Everything is in place both on and off the course to make this the best tournament yet.”
