DENMARK'S Soren Hansen led his EMEA team to victory in the annual Pro-Am for the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy, at Doha Golf Club.
Hansen and his three amateurs of Prakash Bhagwat-Brown, Ed Jennings and Manu Chandrasekaran (below) shot a combined net 59 to win by one shot from the Commercialbank team of Andy Stevens, Hassan Al Nuami and Alex Dodd - superbly led by US Ryder Cup star Kenny Perry - on 60. Also on 60 and taking third place were pro Oliver Wilson and his Carpetland 2 team of Shahin Khodjasteh, Gavin Phillips and Paul Steven.
The 39 teams battled against high winds and the long rough and narrow fairways of Doha Golf Club in what is one of the most eagerly-awaited dates on the annual golfing calendar. Among the more celebrated names in the line-ups were footballer Ronald De Boer and former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev. The event saw every team receive gifts provided by Lavazza, while the prize-winners took home trophies and awards courtesy of Qatar Duty Free at a gala prize-giving dinner hosted last night by the Four Seasons Doha.
