160 players to feature in Pro-Am event today

DOHA (Qatar):A total of 160 players will feature at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday.

The event is a prelude to the European Tour competition, which starts at the Education City Golf Course from Thursday, will have professional and amateurs vying for honours besides the excellent practice opportunities for the pros enlisted on the main competition.

The tournament will have two groups, with action starting in the early hours.

“We have some 120 amateur players who have registered for the event and 40 professionals will also be taking part in the event,” said Mike Shouriey, Technical Director at Qatar Golf Association. “We’ll have one group which will tee off in the morning and the second one after 10am.”

The Pro-Am will also give the professional a feel of the greens ahead of the four-day Qatar Masters.

The 144-strong golfers’ field at Qatar Masters also includes three Qatari amateurs.

Ali Al Shahrani qualifed as 2021 Qatar Open-winner while Saleh Al Kaabi and Jeham Al Kuwari got wild cards.
